“Bottom-up, connecting with what students know
The alternative is to help students to construct mathematical
knowledge in a bottom up manner connecting with what the students are familiar
with. In case of early number, the goal will be to help students in developing
a network of number relations. A way to do so is by activities that involve
structuring quantities.
